Importance of worshiping clan deities!

Normally when you go to temples, you buy coconuts and fruits and return after offering alms. But there is an additional obligation when going to worship a clan deity. When goes to our clan deity temple, after worshiping with Pongal, we have to return after doing the archan. Doing this is the proper worship of the clan deity.
It doesn’t matter what worship one does. But the worship of clan deity should not be done alone. People think that they will get prosperous life without any harm to their family and members. Any activity that begins without worshiping the clan deity does not end well. So people believe that this worship is the first of all.
At least once a year they visit the temple of the clan deity and perform worship. For any auspicious work the first worship is done to the clan deity. It is only after that that other programs are started and the idea prevails among the people that the deity who helps us without calling is the clan deity.
